The HumanAI: Human-Centered AI for People with Intellectual Disabilities project team took part in the 25th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (INTERACCIÓN 2025), held in Valladolid from 3 to 5 September 2025. This event brought together researchers and professionals in the HCI field, providing a key forum to share findings and experiences.
- The first paper, Challenges in accessing generative AI for users with cognitive disabilities: an explorator y case study by Virginia Francisco, Raquel Hervás and Ricardo García-Mata, focuses the use of ChatGPT by students with cognitive disabilities. The study reveals significant barriers in question formulation, comprehension of responses, and information verification, and suggests improvements such as guided interfaces, simplified outputs, and integrated verification tools.
- The second contribution, Evaluating Eleuteria App: the deliver stage of an inclusive double diamond design process by Barbara Corsetti, Lourdes Moreno and Raquel Hervás, addresses the final design stage of Eleuteria App, aimed at supporting autonomy for people with mild intellectual disabilities and their caregivers. User and expert evaluations showed cognitive accessibility, good usability and highlighted improvements in interface and personalization.
- The third paper, The added value of combining evaluation methods for the accessibility analysis of city council chatbots and their websites, by Francisco Iniesto, Mario Zapata, Alberto Díaz, and Covadonga Rodrigo, focuses on the accessibility of chatbots and websites of Spanish city councils. By combining heuristic, automated, and user testing methods with participants with visual disabilities, the study highlights the value of mixed-method evaluations for detecting barriers and suggesting improvements in public digital services.
Together, these three contributions illustrate the range of research carried out within the HumanAI project, with a focus on cognitive accessibility and inclusive interaction with emerging technologies. The conference also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences with other research groups and to explore potential future collaborations in the field of human-computer interaction.
