The Project

This project aims to bridge the accessibility gap in generative AI tools for individuals with cognitive impairments, including those with intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and age-related cognitive decline.

Despite the rapid adoption of AI-driven conversational systems, these technologies often feature user interfaces (UI) and language that are too complex and abstract, making it difficult for these users to understand prompts, interpret results, and assess their accuracy.

Moreover, thanks to generative AI technologies such as LLMs, it is possible to address these challenges by incorporating simplified, easy-to-understand language aligned with Plain Language and Easy Reading principles.

Based on these foundations, we propose the following hypothesis: Research in accessible UI design and NLP innovations can reduce the digital divide in generative AI while ensuring ecological efficiency.
